Mark Levin Shows How the Senate Trashed its Treaty Powers

Levin PlayFrom the Mark Levin radio program, April 14th, 2015:  “The Unites States Senate just rewrote the treaty provision of the Constitution… These people in Washington, DC usurp the Constitution all the time… And this may be over the heads of most commentators and people on TV and radio, but it’s not over my head, and it won’t be over yours. The treaty provision of the Constitution, Article 1, Section 2, Clause 2 could not be clearer: The president shall have power by and with the advice and consent of the senate shall make treaties provided two thirds of the senators present concur. Provided two thirds of the senators present concur [Levin repeated this passage for emphasis]. That is they either vote it up or down. It’s a supermajority of senators present…”

Levin then went on to explain why the Framers wrote the Constitution in this way, and how the weasel deal agreed to by the Senate this week destroyed the separation of powers of our Constitution.  Click here or simply click the graphic to listen to Mark Levin.
